There are numerous films set to be released over the next 12 months, many of which are part of highly-touted franchises with big box-office titles. With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story being a huge success nearing the tail end of 2016 and the return of 50 shades darker this month, we’re in for quite a year. That said, these are our top 5 picks hitting the theaters in 2017:
Beauty and The Beast – March 17, 2017

Easily the most anticipated film of the year among die-hard Disney fans, this live-action adaptation will re-introduce the beloved tale and capture the hearts of a younger generation. The film will star Emma Watson as Belle, and Dan Stevens as the Beast.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi – December 15, 2017

The Last Jedi is the second installment in the Star Wars trilogy following Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). The star-studded cast will include Star Wars veterans Mark Hamill and the late Carrie Fisher, as well as Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac. The Force Awakens left audiences bubbling with questions (Is Rey Anakin’s long lost daughter? How did the lightsaber end up at Maz’s castle?) that The Last Jedi is sure to (finally) answer.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales – May 26, 2017

A quick fan-favorite and always a phenomenal box-office success, Jack Sparrow is back at it again and this time he’s in deep (pun intended). With new villain Salazar freshly escaped from the Bermuda Triangle and after every pirate on the sea, it will be up to Jack to save the day. The movie will star Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and a surprise appearance by former Beatle Paul McCartney.
50 Shades Darker – February 2, 2017

Fans of E.L James scandalous novels will be delighted to see the return of the seductive entrepreneur Christian Grey and young ingénue Ana Steele. From the boardroom to the bedroom, expect to see a montage of steamy scenes, expensive suits and deviant behavior. The film will star Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Ana Steele.
The Fate of The Furious – April 14, 2017

This beloved action-thriller is back again in it’s 8th installment, this time shifting the focus from crime to espionage. The film will star fan-favorite Vin Diesel through a journey of deception, misfortune and seduction into a life he left behind. Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron will play the “mysterious woman” who races Domenic Torretto through an unforgettable mission.
