At Faulhaber, we believe in the power of giving back, not only through our business practices but by contributing to causes that truly matter. As a proud partner of 1% for the Planet, we are committed to dedicating 1% of our annual revenue to environmental nonprofits and using our platform to support sustainability and social impact. But for us, it’s about more than just writing a check—it’s about engaging in meaningful, impactful, and collaborative efforts that make a tangible difference.
Our pro bono work with organizations like Ontario Nature and Second Harvest exemplifies how we use our PR and digital marketing expertise to amplify the voices of those doing important work in the environmental and social sectors.
Pro Bono Work: Using Expertise for Impact
Pro bono work isn’t just a charitable gesture—it’s an opportunity to use our expertise to help causes that are aligned with our values. At Faulhaber, we are fortunate to partner with Canadian nonprofit organizations that are making a real impact.
In 2022, Faulhaber volunteered with Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization, for a group food sort. The experience was so impactful that it inspired us to continue supporting their mission. Since then, we’ve contributed through monetary donations, additional volunteer days, and this year, kicked off an ongoing pro bono partnership. Through our PR efforts, we’ve worked to raise visibility for Second Harvest’s vital work in rescuing surplus food and distributing it to those in need. Food insecurity remains a critical issue in Canada, and Second Harvest’s innovative approach not only provides immediate relief but also tackles long-term sustainability challenges.
Volunteer Days: Hands-On Impact
In addition to our pro bono work, Faulhaber encourages the team to engage directly with the causes we support through volunteer days. By actively participating in the initiatives we promote, we are able to see firsthand the impact we are making and deepen our connection to the work being done.
One of our team’s favorite volunteer activities is participating in Don’t Mess with the Don, an environmental cleanup initiative along the Don River in Toronto. This hands-on project aligns with our environmental values and supports our commitment to sustainability. Not only do we help clean up this vital green space, but it also gives our team a valuable opportunity to step away from screens, enjoy some outdoor bonding time, and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving urban environments.
Another impactful volunteer opportunity is sorting food at Second Harvest’s Toronto warehouse. These sessions allow our team to sort donated produce that will be distributed to those in need, providing a tangible and direct way to support the organization’s mission. Engaging in these volunteer days not only gives us an opportunity to give back but also fosters team bonding and a sense of shared purpose.
Quantifying Impact: Measuring the Difference We Make
It’s important that our pro bono work and volunteer efforts are not just well-intentioned—they need to be impactful. By quantifying our contributions, we can clearly demonstrate how our donations, volunteer efforts and pro bono support translate into tangible benefits for our nonprofit partners. This emphasis on measurable outcomes allows us to refine our strategies continuously, ensuring we achieve maximum results—just as we would for any client.
Collective Commitment: Passionate People = Powerful Change
One of the reasons our pro bono and volunteer work is so meaningful is that we align these efforts with the individual passions of our team members. At Faulhaber, we understand that everyone has unique causes that they care about, and when people are personally invested in the work they’re doing, the impact is far greater. Whether it’s a love for the outdoors, a passion for sustainability, or a deep commitment to social justice, engaging in causes the team cares about strengthens our collective commitment to making a difference.
Conclusion
At Faulhaber, our partnership with 1% for the Planet is just one of the ways we contribute to the greater good. Through our pro bono work with organizations like Ontario Nature and Second Harvest, as well as hands-on volunteer days, we are able to create a lasting impact on causes that matter. By quantifying our efforts and aligning them with the passions of our team, we ensure that our contributions are both meaningful and measurable. The core of the Faulhaber Way is that we believe that engaging in pro bono work and volunteerism is not only a responsibility but also an opportunity to make the world a better place—one project at a time.
